What is Painting With Pixels?

Posted by macdiva on 25th January in Class Links

Painting With Pixels is an Online Elementary Digital Arts Course. PWP is for kids ages 7-12 who want to learn how to make art by using the computer. The software we will be using is FREE and will work on both PC and Mac. Since we will have to download these programs from the Web; PLEASE make sure your Internet Security software and Antivirus software definitions are up to date.

This first course is Daz Bryce PLE. Bryce, and its FREE!

So we can talk to each other, we will be using Skype (it’s FREE). In order to use Skype you need a microphone. Some computers already have this. If yours does not, you may need to purchase a microphone orĀ  a headset. You don’t need anything fancy or tricked out; just a plain one will work. You can download Skype for PC’s HERE, and Skype for Macs HERE. Please only use the FREE version of Skype…unless your parent wants to upgrade to a business or other version of subscription (it’s not necessary for this course). The FREE version will work just fine!

  1. Make sure your parent has emailed me your permission slip (to: macdiva@fullsail.edu) and contact information (Parent’s Phone Number & eMail address).
  2. Update your Internet Security software and Virus Definitions.
  3. Add this Website to Favorites or Bookmarks.
  4. Download and Install Daz Bryce.
  5. Download and Install Skype using these links or the ones above. PC Link; Mac Link.
  6. If needed get a plain microphone or headset.
  7. Make sure your parent knows what you are doing online either in this class or any other time you are on the Web!
  8. Have FUN!!!

Please make sure you click the big orange button in the upper right hand corner. This is an RSS feed. It will keep you up to date with my posts. You may need to download an aggregator, if you do not already have one. The one I use is GoogleReader. You need a Google gmail and iGoogle account to use GoogleReader (both FREE). There are other aggregators for RSS Readers available, this is just the one I use.
